It soon becomes clear that Lamia is far more important than her role as Dr Benn's assistant first suggests. She was found on Mars by Professor Hagen as a baby (top right) in a space capsule and raised there. Only that much is known about her origins for most of the series; it isn't until Lamia finally meets with Captain Halley in Episode 14 that her grander destiny becomes more apparent, and Captain Halley finally fills in the detail during Episode 16.
Lamia is in fact from a planet of mystics called Esper, and a member of the Pizarees royal family. Shortly after her birth a seer predicts that she will come to have great power. As a result, the Alliance assault Esper and level the place. Lamia and a few others escape on a ship which is either the same class as the Skull, or in fact was the Skull. Eluding the Alliance, they put their faith in mankind and send the infant Lamia to Mars with Kirara while seeking refuge elsewhere.
Lamia is a very complex character; she tries to sacrifice herself to save her friends from harm on a number of occasions but is also willing to fight even when odds are against her. She is also subjected to attempts to kidnap her, poison her and blow her up. Not to mention Captain Orion's creepy bedside manner! Discover her final fate by reading Episode 24, the conclusion to the Star Fleet storyline.
